Hub Coalition Porter County delivers and supports evidence-based programs that focus on prevention, mental health, recovery, and harm reduction. These initiatives are designed for schools, families, first responders, businesses, and community partners in Valparaiso, Portage, Chesterton, and surrounding areas — all working toward a healthier, safer county.
Community Programs & Initiatives
This is an overview of the programs we promote, train on, or coordinate with partners. Each one addresses a specific part of the behavioral health continuum — from early prevention to crisis response to long-term support.

Teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. Offered monthly at no cost for businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community groups.

Education and outreach focused on keeping people alive, safe, and connected to care. Includes partnership with Overdose Lifeline and local efforts to reduce overdose deaths and infectious disease spread.

A countywide network of publicly available NARCAN boxes, monitored and replenished regularly so community members can respond to an opioid emergency 24/7.

A personality-targeted prevention program for youth that builds coping skills, improves decision-making, and reduces the likelihood of substance use in middle and high school students.

(Asking Saves Kids) — encourages parents, caregivers, and youth-serving organizations to ask safety questions and have proactive conversations to protect young people.

Promotes awareness and proper use of the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline so residents know how to get immediate emotional or mental health support.

Partnership with ODLL to provide training, NARCAN access, and education on overdose prevention and harm reduction best practices.

A youth-driven awareness campaign that partners with local retailers to reduce underage alcohol access by placing prevention messages on products and in stores.
