Chesterton Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Program

The Chesterton DFC Program is part of a national initiative designed to reduce youth substance use through community collaboration, prevention education, and early intervention. About the Chesterton DFC Grant

Building prevention from the ground up

The Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Grant, administered by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the CDC, provides federal funding to support local coalitions working to prevent youth substance use.

Hub Coalition Porter County uses this funding in Chesterton to:

  • Build community partnerships around prevention.

  • Promote healthy decision-making among youth.

  • Address risk factors linked to early substance use.

  • Support and expand evidence-based programs in schools and community settings.

  • Strengthen long-term community wellness strategies.

By aligning DFC goals with Porter County’s Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) and Local Coordinating Council (LCC), these efforts create lasting impact.
